Summers can be tough on fescue lawns here in the Piedmont region of North Carolina. If you have irrigation we can keep fescue growing through the summer, but fungus diseases and nutrient deficiency can cause your lawn to die in spots. With no irrigation, your lawn will go dormant with some of it dying from disease and other parts from environmental conditions. What can you do to keep your lawn healthy through the summer?
Our Summer Protection Program is here to help regardless if you have irrigation or not. With four applications, this program is designed to give vital nutrients regularly through the summer along with fungicide prevention, bio-stimulants, and soil surfactants. Let's break it down.
Nutrients: We apply two applications of a high potassium liquid fertilizer that will not burn your yard during the hot summer months, but give the plants needed nutrients for deep root growth.
Fungus: We apply four applications of a rotation of fungicide that will protect your lawn against disease like brown patch, dollar spot, grey leaf spot, rust, pythium, and more. These applications will help the turf grow stronger and protect it against these diseases.
Bio-stimulants: We use high-end humic acid, sea kelp, and amino-acids that will help your lawn get the most out of your soil. With four applications, these bio-stimulants will help with turf vigor, viscosity, and health of your lawn during the summer.
Soil Surfactants: Soil surfactants are one of the most overlooked applications during the summer. A soil surfactant will help the soil to absorb and stay hydrated for roughly a month between applications. With 3 applications, it will help move any moisture on your lawn from the surface to the root zone. This will help dry out the moisture on the outside of the leaf tissue reducing disease along with providing water where it needs it most - the roots. It is best if combined with regular irrigation, but will help during dry spells in non-irrigated lawns.

The Summer Protection Program consist of four applications that are applied each month of the summer. This program will reduce turf loss to disease, heat, and drought. Applications are roughly 4 weeks apart to keep your lawn protected from disease.
